In Memory of Alex Vega (Class of 2012)

Last week Capuchino High School lost a member of the Mustang community. Alex Vega (Class of 2012) and his girlfriend Michaela Gregory were victims in the Oakland fire. This week Capuchino students students will be using the statue in front of the main office as a place for community members to gather and keep their memory in their hearts. We encourage you to donate flowers, money or just take a moment to reflect and remember these two. The flowers and the money collected this week will be donated to the victims families. The Capuchino Music Department invites you to our Winter Holiday Concert next Thursday December 15th at 7pm in the Main Theatre.   The Band, Choir and Orchestra will each perform music to get you into the spirit of the Holidays. Come join us for a homemade tamale dinner with Concert at 6pm for only $20 Adults/$15 Students, Concert Only Tickets are $10 Adults, $5 Students/Sr. Citizens and a PAL Sticker will get you in for $3.  Bring your family and get tickets for a Family of Four for only $25. Happy Holidays from the each of us in the Capuchino Music Department. Cap Celebrates 3 Athletes

Capuchino Celebrates Three Athletes Invited to Compete in the NCAA

Capuchino recently honored three students who were recently offered spots to compete athletically next year in the NCAA! Please help us congratulate Luseane Tutoe, Karina Chavarria, and Victoria Lopez (photographed left to right): 

  • Luseane Tutoe is an all around athlete who recently returned to the softball line-up following a sophomore ACL surgery. She fought back successfully and the power hitting shortstop accepted an offer to play softball at CSU Monterey Bay.
  • Karina Chavarria is an active member of the student body. She has served her school in the Leadership class for 3.5 years. She is an excellent centerfielder and has been the stolen base leader for the past three years. She recently committed to Brown University for softball.
  • Victoria Lopez has been participating in gymnastics since she was 5. She started serious training when she was 7. She has earned State champion for Level 8, 9 and 10, Region 1 champion for bars and beam in level 9 and 10, Beam champion in Nationals and 2nd on bars for level 10. She recently accepted an offer to compete with UC Berkeley.

We are so proud of these Mustangs! Congratulations Luseane, Karina, and Victoria!

Students: Due to several incidents that have occurred on the basketball courts during lunchtime, the basketball courts will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Remember: It is a privilege to have open courts during lunch.

Please make sure your attendance is up to date and you are eligible to attend next semester. Contracts will be available the first week we return to school.

 

CAP Digital Scavenger Hunt: Leadership is hosting a picture scavenger hunt. Students walk around campus taking pictures of certain locations. Come to H225 this Friday to pick up the list during brunch or lunch to participate. First 3 to complete win a prize.

 

Basketball Tournament: Hey Mustangs, Leadership will be hosting an elimination 3 vs 3 basketball tournament. The tournament will be held on Dec 5th, 7th, 9th, and 13th in the Upper Gym/Outdoor Court. If you are interested, please see Teisina F and Abraham M to pick up forms. Lace up and Get ready to Ball Out!

 

Leo’s Toiletries Drive: The Leos Club is hosting a women’s toiletries drive! All proceeds will go to ‘A Women’s Place’ in San Francisco that helps women with special needs due to mental disabilities, sexual or domestic violence, drug & alcohol abuse and HIV+/Aids related issues. We need items for hygiene kits such as socks, toothbrushes, feminine hygiene products, and lotion. A drop off box is located in the main office and donations will be accepted until December 9th. Thank you for your support!

 

College & Career: A representative from the NAVY will be giving a presentation on their Engineering Programs and NROTC scholarship in the College & Career Center today at lunch.  Feel free to drop in or see Ms. Lynn if you have questions.

 

Clubs

Attack on Art Club meets today in room C121! Come join us during lunch in bonding over many styles and forms of art, including photography and other medias alike. All new members are welcome, knowing how to draw is not necessary.Come join us as we create multiple pieces of art!

 

CAP Cancer Research Club: Meetings will be held every other Friday at lunch in D7

 

Club HorsePower Meeting: Club HorsePower is a fitness based club that enables students to overcome the stress of school. It also helps students attain their fitness and health goals. Come join us in everlasting improvement in room D-6 today during lunch.

Attention Seniors: How can I register for community college classes early?

Attend the Community College Panel on Wednesday,  December 7th during AST in the Little Theater. College of San Mateo, Skyline, Cañada and City College of San Francisco will all be featured. Representatives from each campus will be speaking during AST and available at a College Fair during lunch in the Foyer of the Theater. See Ms. Lynn or your counselor if you have questions.

We need items for hygiene kits such as socks, travel size lotion, shampoo, toothbrushes, combs, pads, soap etc. A drop off box is located in the main office until December 19th. NEW TEMPORARY BUSINESS AND STUDENT SERVICES OFFICES IN OCTOBER

The SMUHSD is saying “farewell” to its antiquated, over crowded facility and trailers, and saying “hello” to a state-of-the-art District Office scheduled to open in the fall of 2018. To make room for construction, Business Services and Student Services will be located in a temporary facility at 839 Hinckley in Burlingame starting in October.
