WINTER SAT PREP: REGISTRATION ENDS JANUARY 21, 2017

Winter SAT Prep Classes will be Open for registration to all students in the San Mateo Union High School District.  Space will be limited. This six week class will help prepare students for the March 11, 2017 SAT test.*

Registration closes at 11:59 pm on January 21, 2017 (or earlier if the class fills). 

Dates: 6 classes - Saturday, January 28, February 4, 11, 18, 25, and March 4, 2017

Location: San Mateo High School 

2 Sessions: Mornings (9a-12p) or Afternoons (1p-4p)

Fee: $380 Regular Registration (December 19 - January 21)

DANCE  CONTRACTS: Dance Contracts are due today! Pick them up and turn them into H225 as soon as possible!

 

Dear IB Students: IB Fees are now overdue. If you still owe an outstanding balance for your IB Examinations, please drop off your payment in the IB office as soon as possible in order to obtain your IB Office clearance to attend the Winter Formal.  If you have any questions, come and see Ms. Lopez or Ms. Beas!

 

Step To College: Would you like to earn college credit? Would you like to experience a college class while in high school for FREE? Join the Step to College class next Tuesday 1/24 at 3:30pm for the Step to College class in Mr. Kuchenig's room H105.

 

Seniors: Will you be attending community college this fall or are you considering this option?  If you answered yes, please see Ms. Lynn to sign up for one of the upcoming community college application workshops on January 20th or 27th.  Applying is completely free and you will be eligible to participate in a priority enrollment program.

Boy’s Golf Team Sign-up: Sign-ups for the Boy’s Golf Team will be during lunch in front of the cafeteria. You can also sign-up with Mr. Wilson in the gym any time. Practice starts January 30

All students interested in going to an all day Clean Energy Solutions and Technology Field Trip to Skyline College next Friday, January 20th please see Ms. Tucker, Ms. Wekselgreene, Ms. Iufer, Mr. Galdona,  or Mr. Thomas, Counselor, today during brunch or lunch. There will be free transportation, snacks, lunch and goodies.  This is on a first come, first serve basis.

 

Winter Break Yearbook Pictures: If you would like any pictures that you took during winter break in the yearbook please contact Sarai Moya or Michelle Pina through SchoolLoop.

 

Sports:

Swim Team: For anyone interested in joining (or returning to) the swim team this year, either as a swimmer or as a pool manager, we will meet Friday, January 20, 2017, at lunch in D4 to discuss this year’s season. Last year's season was a huge success with all four teams winning the majority of their meets and for the first time in 19 years, we had swimmers that made CCS! Come join us at lunch Friday, January 20th,  to make this year a great swim season.

 

Badminton Conditioning begins Wed, January 18 at 6am every day in the Main Gym.

Student Spotlight

Jaeda Gantulga is being recognized by Ms Barrios as an outstanding PE student! She works to her best ability everyday.  She runs cross country, made it to PALs last Fall and has been on the track and field team.  She is always willing to help out, teach, she is a jump rope wiz and has plans to go into the Kinesiology field as well. PE students like her are rare so I feel fortunate to have her in my class.

DANCE  CONTRACTS: Dance contracts are available today in the main office or H225 during brunch and lunch. You will only need it to be signed by parent/guardian. Once you turn the contract into H225, the office will automatically  check all the categories to see if you are eligible to buy a ticket. All contracts are due January 18th to H225.

Auditions for The Little Mermaid: The acting and singing audition is today, Friday January 13 4-6pm in the Main Stage theater. Information is posted on our School Loop homepage, the dramatic arts page, and the CAP weekly website. Only students in good academic standing and who auditioned on both days will be considered for a role.

He will represent Capuchino High School and the CHS Music Department at the California All State Music Educators Conference (CASMEC) in San Jose, February 16-19. WooHoo!!!!! We are so very proud of you Riley.

The SMUHSD is saying “farewell” to its antiquated, over crowded facility and trailers, and saying “hello” to a state-of-the-art District Office scheduled to open in the fall of 2018. To make room for construction, Business Services and Student Services will be located in a temporary facility at 839 Hinckley in Burlingame starting in October.
