LEARNING COMMUNITIES

Learning Communities (LC) allow students to enroll in a preset group of classes with other students who share the same passions, interests, or specific field of study. Students take classes together over two or more semesters and work closely with specific faculty and counselors assigned to their learning community and invested in student success.

 

By linking basic skills courses, G.E. requirements, and relevant, student-focused curriculum, learning communities help to promote pathways to earning a degree. There are three LC categories - Science and Health, Arts and Culture, and Public Service:

Priority Enrollment Program (PEP)

See Ms. Lynn to sign up for onsite PEP. 

Step 1- Fill out application.

Graduating seniors participating in the Priority Enrollment Program receive priority registration dates at Skyline College for the summer and fall terms, which means PEP students have a higher chance of enrolling in their first-choice classes. Students participating in PEP can complete their enrollment steps, learn about Skyline College's programs and services and select their courses all before finishing their senior year in high school.

When does the next PEP Day take place?

If you cannot complete PEP at Capuchino,PEP Days at Skyline will take place on:

  • April 22, 2017
  • May 6, 2017

Note: Registration will open in February 2017

Note: Alternatively, you can attend one of our New Student Welcome Days where you will be able to complete your enrollment steps within the same day.

Students can expect to:

  • Participate in DRC orientation

How to Participate in DRC's PEP Day

  1. Complete an online application to Skyline College. After your application has been processed, you will receive an email confirmation that includes your student ID (your G number). Please write down your G number.
  2. Complete DRC's Online PEP Day Registration Form to participate in DRC's PEP Day. Parents are welcome to attend all sessions.  (Enrollment will open in February 2017)

Please note: You must bring a Photo ID on Saturday, April 16th in order to take the English Placement Test.
