Electronic Devices
IPods, ear phones, or cell phones, or any other electronic device will be confiscated if visible during class or passing periods. All electronic devices must be turned off and put away. If an item is taken by a staff member, the following disciplinary actions will be taken:
First offense Parent pick up at the end of the school day
Second Offense 5 – day hold, parent pick up
Third Offense 30 – day hold, parent pick-up
Fourth Offense 60 –day hold, parent pick-up
Fifth Offense Kept for the remainder of the school year, parent pick-up
If a student has already accumulated a record of electronic items confiscated from the Fall semester, they will automatically be placed at the next step.
If a student is not cooperative and refuses to give the item to a staff member, including the battery and SIM car, the consequences will automatically be moved up to the next step.
All items will be returned to a parent at the end of the school year.
Tardy Policy
Students are expected to be in their classes on time to gain maximum benefit from the learning environment. The following consequences will be given if a student is tardy to class.
1-2 tardies Teacher Warning
3rd tardy Teacher consequence
4th tardy One After-School Detention with Dean
5th tardy Two After-School Detentions with the Dean
6th Tardy Referral to the Dean, Thursday school (90 minutes)
7th -8th Tardy Referral to the Dean, Saturday School (3 hours)
9th Tardy Referral to the Dean, Parent conference, Progress Report for 6-weeks
(If the Progress Report is not turned in, 1-week of Community Service atlunch is given.)
10th Tardy Referral to the Dean, Parent conference
11th Tardy Referral to the Dean, any combination of the following: 10-hour outside community service, attendance contract, referral to Student Attendance Review Board, referral to San Mateo County Juvenile Probation Department, referral to counselor, Student Study Team, Kid Talk, multiple Saturday School, Community Service, suspended from school related activities; sports, dances, assemblies, rallies, etc…..
Please know that Tardy Sweeps will happen once a week.
Any student caught in the Tardy Sweep will be given one Community Service during lunch or one After-School Detention.
Bullying
Please note that a new law that has taken effect is California Ed. Code 48900 (r), and reads as follows:
Any student found to engage in an act of bullying, including, but not limited to, bullying committed by means of an electronic act, directed specifically towards a pupil or school personnel shall be suspended and a mandatory police report is made.
Please advise your child that any type of bullying will be strickly enforced at Capuchino High School.
