A Frank Conversation about Marijuana

Tuesday, October 24th from 7:00-8:30pm

Helpful Information for Helping Teens Cope with National Tragedies

The recent act of violence in Las Vegas -- the largest mass shooting in US history -- can be unnerving for students, creating feelings of confusion, sadness and anxiety. As news reports of this frightening event unfold in the media, it is important that we all -- families, teachers and staff -- talk with students about their feelings and thoughts around this national tragedy and the many others in recent news. Below are links to tips from the National Education Association (http://neatoday.org/2017/10/02/mass-shooting-las-vegas-talk-students/) as originally offered by the National Association of School Psychologists and from the Orange County Department of Education (http://newsroom.ocde.us/five-things-to-keep-in-mind-when-helping-kids-cope-with-crisis/). Both offer helpful information and guidance for families. If you have any concerns about your student, please contact your school's health and wellness coordinators.
